Blueberry Cortisol Combat Smoothie
This blueberry cortisol combat smoothie will deter cortisol, our stress hormone. When its elevated your anxiety response kicks into gear. Blueberries are rich in antioxidants and vitamin C which helps regulate and prevent spikes in cortisol levels.
- 1 cup almond milk or milk substitute
- 1/2 cup blueberries fresh or frozen
- 1 cup spinach optional
- 1/2 cup ice if using fresh berries
In a blender, add blueberries, ice, almond milk and spinach. Blend until smooth. Tastes best consumed fresh!
This is a basic recipe that can have added substitutes of your choice. If you are finishing a workout I would suggest adding an amino acid such as 2 tbsp almond butter, 3 tbsp hemp hearts, 2 tbsp chia seeds or a vegan protein powder of choice.
If you are using this smoothie as one of your servings of daily vegetables it is a great way to add a handful of spinach or kale with almost an unnoticeable taste.
